Master Crafter Challenge

To go to The Joy's Life DT Halloween Blog Hop

I'm so excited to show you what I created for the Master Crafter Competition that Sarah from Pink by Design organized.  We were sent a box with the following items:
  • Scissor Mouse sponsored by Westcott
  • DCWV Rockstar mat stack sponsored by DCWV Deals
  • Cotton Bag Sponsored by State line Bag Co. (Forgot to take pic before I "distressed" it!)
  • 1/2 sheet of Rhinestones sponsored by Queen & Co.
  • Sentiment stamp sponsored by Pink by Design
  • 2 Assorted Buttons ( I only had one but made it work!)

We were supposed to incorporate as much from the box as possible– realizing that one thing is a tool, and may not be used as part of the project, but used to make the project.  We were also allowed to use other things from our stash to make our project. I used ALL of my challenge products and only added some flowers to the bag! (And of course inks & cardstock)

I made a 6x6 card with the bag attached...You could add a gift card inside, or some candy or any other little treat! I knew right away I wanted a distressed look so I went to work on distressing the bag...I used Tim Holtz distress inks in Peeled Paint & Vintage Photo. Then I found some of the paper from the paper stack that matched my colors perfectly! I distressed the edges & inked them with Vintage Photo. The hardest part of this was incorporating the rhinestones! Since I was distressing the project, I wasn't sure how blingy rhinestones would fit in but I am very satisfied with how it turned out!

Here is a pic of the where the challenge products are used...

Thanks so much for taking the time to come to visit! Leave me a comment & tell me what you think! I absolutely LOVE comments!! :) :)

Until next time... ♥ Laura ♥

I make my own alcohol inks now. Super simple: You'll need lots of small vials with tight-fitting lids; sharpie-type markers; rubbing alcohol. That's it! Pour enough alcohol into the vial about 1/2" up. Pull the nib out of the markers and drop them into the rubbing alcohol. Cap tightly. That's it! Hope this helps cut down your costs. Love your stuff!
