Distress inks!!

So yes...I am WAY behind on the "new, in" things!! I am just now using Distress Inks!! I know, I know....where the heck have I been?? Well let me tell you...I have had Distress Inks for YEARS!!! But everytime I used them, I would not use them I would use them to stamp with....know what I mean?? I thought, Well what is so spectacular about these?? Well DUH!! Maybe if I used them right, I would see what was SO spectacular!! Anyway, I used some in a few posts a couple of weeks ago...but then at work last week, there was a Tag Class and I sat in on it...she used the Distress Inks and I just HAD to buy that color....I used Tim Holtz Vintage Photo...and here is my tag....
I also found in my drawers (Geez I really need to clean out my drawers more often!!) I found some Tim Holtz crackle paint! NEVER OPENED!! 3 different colors!! So I got a little wood heart and slapped some on there....that stuff is SO cool!! (Man I am behind!!) I used some Shimmer Mist and some Viva Decor Pearl Pens (I used cream color but the ink bled through and made the pearls almost a rusty color! Too cool!!) I pulled out some stickers and used the ink on there to make them match...Also had a cream color felt flower that I sprayed with Shimmer Mist...
I had so much fun making this tag!! I think we will be doing some of this in the card club on Saturday...hmmm...maybe??? :)

Come on back tomorrow to see a super cool gift my Mom made for me for Valentine's Day!! It is SO cute!! :)

Until next time...

Happy 13th Birthday....

Hello!! Wow! I can't believe it has been almost a week since I last posted on my blog! Bad blogger!! It has been a crazy mad-house over here and I am finally getting a few minutes to sit and post something! On Saturday, Travis had a Culinary competition and his team placed 3rd and are moving on to state finals!! Yay Travis!! :) So next weekend we will be headed to Austin for the weekend...not much of a vacation (it's only a little over an hour from here!!) BUT we are getting a hotel and my Dad lives there, so we will also spend some time with him! It will be nice to get away, even if it's only for one night!! But nothing beats sleeping in a motel! :) I love it!!

And I am still getting used to working again...after more than 20 years of not working (outside of the home) it has proven to be quite an adjustment! But I do love my job and am excited about getting out of the house more!

Now on to my card for the of my DT leaders, Becky, sent out a request for her daughter's Bday...she asked if we would send her a card and thought it would be cool for her to get all the cards in the mail! So here is my card....and Becky, I will be mailing it tomorrow!!
She told us that her favorite colors are turquoise and silver/black...and I saw the invites she made for her party and thought the guitars were perfect! I used "3 Birds on Parade" for the font...I love the chunky numbers it has! I added some turquoise fibers I had and of course used some turquoise Stickles!

I hope she likes it!! :) Come on back tomorrow to see my 1st tag using Tim Holtz distressing inks!! Yes, you read that FIRST!!! I know, I know...I'm a little late on the distressing ink wagon but I could never "get the hang" of them...until now!!! I want every single color!!! :) :) :) Guess it's a good thing I got my job now! LOL!!

Until next time...

Becky's Sweet Creations Weekly Challenge- Banner

Well I did it...I made my first BANNER!! :) Our challenge this week was to make a banner and lo & behold I got a request to make one from a customer!! Ironic huh?? I was a little intimidated at first, mainly because I have seen some really good ones out there in bloggerland! But my request was to make something to fit a 10 ft wall...well what else could I do but a banner?? Let me start off the details by saying that I'm sorry for the icky pics...I don't have a bare wall that this fit across so I just hung it from my cabinet in my craftroom...excuse all the crafty clutter behind it!!
I was given a bed sheet that would be in the room to go by for the colors, so I knew pink/bright pink/lime green and yellow would be in there...I looked through my papers and found the patterned paper first, then got to work!! I cut the scalloped banner at the biggest size I could get it on my Gypsy on a 12x12 paper...(I used "Birthday Bash") then used "Alphalicious" to make the letters. Now for the decorating!! I seriously love making rosettes and thought it would make a great addition to the banner! I added a flower on top and some really cool glass bead-things from Hobby Lobby!
Since I was using the rosettes, I didn't NEED ribbon so I used brads to connect the pieces, then hot glued the rosettes on top. I did add some ribbon to the ends to hang the banner....

I was really happy with my first banner and so was she!! I know I will be doing more of these soon, It was easier than I thought and alot of fun too! :) :)

Until next time... ♥ Laura ♥

Becky's Sweet Creations Weekly Challenge- 3x3 Calling Card

I am sure that Becky, our DT leader, has thought I fell off the earth with my postings for her!! But I am making up for it this week!! I am posting last weeks challenge today and this weeks tomorrow!!  TWO in one week!! :) Got to get caught up somehow!!

So when Becky told us about this, I had NO CLUE what she was talking about!! A 3x3 "calling card"??? She said it is a 3x3 card with the front decorated in "your style" and your information on the back to hand out to people you want to give that information basically a very pretty business card?!?!

Anyway, here is my 3x3 calling card (front only...guess I don't need ALL my info out in blogger land...although if someone wants it bad enough I'm sure they can find it in the google land!! LOL!!)
So I started with DCWV "Mango Frost" paper that had purple in it...purple: Check!! Then it had to have some glittery/Stickle-like flare to it...Glittery: Check!! Now pretty ribbon...Gorgeous ribbon...Check!! And some "pretties" (butterflies!)...Check!! Oh and of course a sentiment punched out and edges inked...CHECK!! :) :) ALL of my favorite things!!

Thanks for stopping by today and come on back tomorrow very first BANNER!! I just LOVE LOVE LOVE this banner I made!! So much fun and SO cute!!! (Is that enough teasing??) C-ya tomorrow...same place, same time!! :)

Until next time...

Would You Ever Guess Wednesday

Welcome to Would You Ever Guess Wednesday at My Cricut CraftRoom!! Today the DT uses the "feature" keys on the overlays and you might say "WOW!! I never would have guessed I could do that with my Cricut!!!" :) We can choose to do any feature key or specifically for today- the PHRASE key on a tag....I chose the phrase key...

I made this cute tag to give to someone as a quick gift and there is a pocket on the back of the tag for some spending money!

I used a tag I had cut a long time ago on my Cricut and then used the PHRASE key on "Wild Card"to cut "Happy $hopping"! I inked my tag with some Tim Holltz distress inks (my new favorite inks!!) and also spritzed some Shimmer Mist all over the tag. Then popped up my saying with some dimensionals...added some Stickles to the "$" and a rhinestone for the dot on the "i"!! I cut a small piece of cardstock on added adhesive on just 3 sides to make a pocket on the back of the tag!!

Head on over to My Cricut CraftRoom for more wonderful ideas from some of the DT! :) :)

 Until next time...

Happy Valentine's Day!!! :)

               ♥HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!
I just LOVE Valentine's Day! Even if it's just another normal day around here, there is something about Valentine's Day! The colors, the love, the flowers, the candy!!! :) Today I am showing some of the treat bags I made for a customer....she wanted simple treat bags with just a "coloring book" image that her kids could color in themselves! So here is what I fixed up for her...I colored this one myself LOL!!
And here is a pic after the kids had colored them
I also made some teacher gifts for her but can't show those yet....I am going to do them for my card club next week and it has to be a surprise!! :)
I hope everyone has a great Valentine's Day or in some cases "Single Awareness Day"!! :)
OH and one more thing....I got HAPPY MAIL today!!! My DT package from Joy's Life!!! Woo Hoo!! Happy dance for happy mail!!  I can't wait to get started on DT projects for her! :) :) :) :)
Until next time...

Valentine's Day Treats ♥♥♥

Good morning fellow crafters & friends!!
Tomorrow is Valentine's Day!!
So today I am going to show you a super cute Valentine's Day treat! I used these candy bags for Halloween, Christmas and so many other times, so last month when I started thinking of Valentines, I just knew I HAD to use conversation hearts! I, personally, do not like to eat conversation hearts but they are so pretty and are so "Valentiney"!! :) They just scream Valentine's Day!! So  I grabbed my Stampin Up punches and went to work!
I made 26 of these in a about an hour! (This was one bag of conversation hearts) I added some Stickles and Happy Valentine's Day stamp that I bought at Michael's a few years ago.

So last week, we were watching "The Middle" on ABC and I have said since we started watching that show, that show IS our life!! Even the kids...there are 3 kids on the show, including a girl, and I have 2 boys....but I still see my boys in ALL 3 of those kids!! The Mom & Dad are SO much like Hubby & I, I sometimes think they have cameras over here to get storylines! Well, last week was the Valentine's show and the mom & dad decided to get a bucket of chicken & watch TV in their sweats in different rooms because they watch different TV shows! We laughed & laughed!! Little did we know, that once again it would be our life!! Hubby LOVES Tues around here because we have chicken Tues...Popeye's Chicken & Church's Chicken have 2 pieces of chicken for 99 cents every we go get about 7 orders, I make sides and BAM dinner!! I told Hubby yesterday that since I was working tomorrow, we should do Chicken Tues...not even realizing it was Valentine's Day!! LOL!! :) :) SO I am sure we will get our chicken, get in our sweats & watch TV!! Probably in separate rooms too! We have been married for almost 22 years, dating since I was 15, so Valentines Day is not always roses & chocolates...although, during the year at random times, he gets me flowers, chocolates or some other trinkets...which to me, is WAY more romantic than ONLY on Valentine's Day!!

Whatever your plans are tomorrow, I hope you have an extra special Valentine's Day! I know we will...just being in a happy marriage is romance enough for me! :)

Until next time...

Guest Designer!!

I am so thrilled to be a Guest Designer for Tina over at Crafty & Green!! Thanks Tina for this wonderful opportunity! :)

The theme for this month is "Friendship & Laughing" and here is the sketch I used...
I decided to do an appreciation card for my take on the friendship part! This could be for a teacher or just a really good friend....and this entire card is made from my scraps!! I just love doing that!
I cut the apple from "A Child's Year" at 3"...I used the embossing folder "Scrollworks" on the vanilla paper and inked it with red. I used some new gorgeous ribbon from Stampin Up (Thank you Tammy!!!!) and a matching button with some twine! The stamps "I appreciate all you do" and "Thank you" are from My Pink Stamper...

Thanks for stopping by today! And a HUGE thank you to Tina for the GD spot! :) :) :)

On a side note...I started my 1st job since HS on Tues!!! I am having so much fun!!! I love interacting with all the customers, working on the computer, and just drooling over all the products in that store!! Tim Holtz, Hero Arts, ClearSnap...OH MY!!! Feature Tag

Hello and Happy Wednesday!! Today over at My Cricut CraftRoom the DT is doing Would You Ever Guess Wednesday AND Feature Tags! I chose Feature I am not 100% sure what exactly Feature Tag means, LOL! BUT, what I did was a tag from one of the feature buttons on the overlay! So here goes...
I made this tag from the "A Child's Year" cart using the "tag" button.Obviously, it is in the shape of a bone, so I knew right away I wanted to use my "Friends Fur-ever" stamp from My Pink Stamper....but then I saw the phrase "friends" on the overlay and thought, "Hmm, that might be cool too" I did both!! :) I only inked the "Fur-ever" on the stamp and then ran the phrase "friends" through my Xyron UPSIDE DOWN and sprinkled it with glitter...The little heart cut-out was done on the tag, so I added a heart punch shape in red behind it....added some twine and inked the edges and DONE! :) :)

Head on over to My Cricut CraftRoom to see more DT projects!

Come on back tomorrow to see a my Guest Designer spot for Crafty and Green!!

Until next time... ♥ Laura ♥

100 Cricut Cartridge Blog Hop

For this hop I am using "Disney Classics", "Paper Lace" & "Celebrate with Flourish"

My 1st card uses "Disney Classics" and I used the skunk Flower from Bambi!! She is SO STINKIN' CUTE!!! LOL!! I think her & Thumper were my favorite from Bambi! I cut her out at 4 1/2"...

I put some "leafy" paper behind her and of course added some Stickles for her bling!! :)

My next card uses two carts...."Paper Lace" & "Celebrate with Flourish"...this is a 6"x6" card.
All of the papers used are from the "Black Currant" DCWV stack (LOVE LOVE this stack!!!)  I cut the heart background & shadow from "Paper Lace" at 5 1/2"...then cut a 4'x4' square to put on top of that...then the flourished heart was cut at 3 1/2". I sponged the edges with Rich Razzleberry and also the flourishes on the heart. All layers are popped up for dimension!  And as always...Stickles in the flourishes of the heart! (I think I should work for Stickles!! LOL!!)

Pizza thank-you & party favors

I want to start this post with a HUGE thank you for everyone that left such amazing comments the last few days!! All the encouragement of the new job prospect, the new DT, my Imagine & even Trevor's play on Tues night were just so fantastic to read!! Thank you so much!! It means a lot to me! :)

Now on to today's projects!! On THIS post, I talked about making some Pizza Party invitations...Well now I am going to show you the Thank You cards & the party favors!!

First off...the party favors! I found THIS  post on SplitCoastStampers on making Pizza Boxes and let me tell you...these were SO easy!!! I am definitely going to be making these again!!

Here is the outside top...
And here is the front of the box....I used a circle punch to punch a half-circle to make opening the box easier
And here is the inside...I cut 4x4 squares of chip board to make the bottoms more stable
She added some small toys and candy to complete the party favors!

And here are the Thank You cards...I just love that she has her children write Thank You cards for their b-days, Christmas, etc...Even though I never did that (Shame on me!! LOL!!) I think it is a great way have your kids realize that saying thank you is so very important!! She told me she wanted pizza of course but also something quick & simple...
Luckily, I had a lot of "toppings" left over from the invites, so all I had to do was cut the pizza slice & "cheese"!

So now the Pizza Party is it's time to start on Valentine's Day for her kids and then another bday party in April...that one is for a girl and I just LOVE doing all the pink, princess, girly-girl stuff for her! Can't wait to hear what theme she has chosen!! :)

Hope everyone has a great day....and again...THANK YOU for all the encouragement!! :)

Until next time...

Would You Ever Guess Wednesday

Hello and welcome to Would You Ever Guess Wednesday at My Cricut CraftRoom!! Today we use any of the other keys on the overlay except the main image...Today I am using "Wild Card"!

I used the "blackout" & "phrase" keys to create this card....
I used some scrap paper from my scrap bin and made a circle card from the "blackout" key...then more scraps for the background paper. I cut the "Oh Happy Day" "phrase" and put that on top with some dimensionals. Then I added some pre-made flowers from Michael's. I thought it needed something else to make the "Oh Happy Day" stand out so I drew some doodles with my white gel pen! Wait!!!! Hold the phone...I just realized there are no Stickles on this card!!! WOW!! Lol!! :)

Also, a quick note...Trevor (my youngest 13) was in a play last night...He has been in Drama for 3 years now and LOVES it! He is SO ready to study Drama in HS next year! Last night they did "The Seussification of Romeo & Juliet"...they will be performing it again this Sat for a UIL competition! Last year at this comp he won Best Actor for his school...I can def see him winning again!! He was amazing up on that stage!!

Here he is doing the Prologue....
Here is his first ever "death scene"!! LOL!
And here is the ending of the play! (His "death" was a joke in the play) Look at him, front & center!!

Don't forget to head on over to My Cricut CraftRoom for more projects from some of the other DT members! Have a great day!! :)

Until next time...
