Make A Wish

This week over at Joy's Life the DT is making "Swatch Books" and here is my take on the Swatch Book! I honestly had never heard of a Swatch Book and was a little confused by the whole idea, but I guess that's how crafting goes, right? So I did a Swatch Book to give as a birthday gift to someone!

I sure hope this is the right idea of what it is supposed to be! LOL! Can you imagine making about 4 or 5 of these "tags", putting them on a ring with a different gift card for each "Tag", how exciting that would be to receive something like this as a gift!!

I cut down my tags to make them a little smaller and inked the background with Faded Jeans Distress Ink. Then used a Canvas background stamp to add some "texture". I used "Make A Wish" from You're So Punny and "Happy Birthday" from Everyday Occasions. Added some fun ribbon to the ring and some gift cards and you have a terrific birthday gift!

Here is a close-up of the stamps...
Hope you enjoyed my take on these fun little Swatch Books! Take a look HERE to see what the rest of the DT has done with their Swatch Books!

Until next time... ♥ Laura ♥

Cri-Kits Blog Hop!

Hello! And welcome to Laura's Crafts & More...! And welcome to the Design Team from Joy's Life Blog Hop! If you came from Lori's blog you are in the right place! If not hop on over to Joy's Blog to start at the beginning!

This month we are using some amazing pens called Cri-Kits! You use these with your Cricut machine (or other cutting machines!) These pens are so fun & easy to use! Just pop them in the special housing, load into your Cricut & start drawing! It's that simple! :)

I decided to make some baby cards...I used "A Child's Year" Cricut cart & Joy's stamp set Everyday Occasions...

Aren't these pens just the coolest?? I also used some Stickles to add some sparkle! :) I stamped the sentiment in gray because the black was just too harsh, and the pink/blue just didn't quite look right! =/ But I think the gray is perfect!

Here is a close-up of the stamps & a little peek at the pens!

And now for some BLOG CANDY!! One lucky winner will receive this small token of my appreciation for stopping by today!

This has 3 sheets of felt sparkly die-cuts and a container of beads in some baby colors! :) Just leave me a comment (with a way to get a hold of you, please!) and of course follow me on my blog journey too! You can also find me on FB (see sidebar for links)

Next you will be going to see what Sarabeth has created for you! Have a great weekend! :)

Here is the full line-up in case you get lost along the way!

Bloom & Grow...

Well I WAS doing so good last week posting! And now....well it's officially the last week of summer for us here! =/ BOO!! And the shopping is in full swing! Shopping, doing all the prep days at school, trying to get in the last few fun days! Busy Busy!! BUT I did have time to be crafty too! :) That's ALWAYS a good thing!

Today I am showing you an amazing product called Cri-Kits! If you have used these, you know how great they are! If not...read on! Anything that you can cut with your Cricut, you can draw with your Cri-Kits! I just LOVE these little gel pens! Now my Cricut has SO many more possibilities! Yay!! So I paired Cri-Kits & the ever amazing stamps from Joy's Life to make these super cute mini comp books!

I used the cart "Paper Lace" to draw these flowers (2 1/2") and then I used "Bloom & Grow" from Joy's set Tag You're It Two! It fit PERFECT inside the flower! I covered the mini comp book with some black/white paper and added some cute ribbon to the sides! Oh and of course some bling!! :)

Here is a close-up of the stamp & the Cri-Kits!

Aren't these just too cute! I see many more projects using my Cri-Kits in the future! Speaking of....THIS weekend are you ready to hop with me & the rest of the DT from Joy's Life?? This hop is all about Joy's Life stamps AND Cri-Kits!! And of course BLOG CANDY!! :) :) So come on back this Saturday to see all the wonderful projects from the DT!

Yummy Sweet Treats

Hello! Well, today is my turn to post for Joy's Life DT! This week we are using some "Oldies But Goodies" from Joy...some of her original stamp sets! Well I have been wanting to get All Around Sentiments since before I joined the DT and FINALLY bought it last week! So I knew I just HAD to use it for this post! I love this set! It works great with many different circle punches and adds the extra special touch for any card, project or tag!

I used some super cool fabric/netting on my tag that I got from Webster's Pages and the silver "Beaded Links" from there also....I used Dried Marigold Distress Ink on the background....I heat embossed the stamped sentiment with some Judikins diamond embossing powder to make it sparkle! And I also used a Silver Pearl Pen to make the "pearls" around the scallop....

Thanks for coming by today! Saturday is my Stamp Club and I have some really cool projects for them this time! Come back soon to see some samples! :)

Until next time... ♥ Laura ♥

Comp Books

Hello again! Wow! 4 posts in 5 days?? Ha Ha I am on a roll! :) Today I am showing some comp books I made for my most favorite customer friend! Now that she is in Oklahoma, I am still crafting for her and mailing the stuff there! I love it! I love doing stuff for her because I know her & her style, so I don't even usually show her samples! She tells me what she wants, I interpret it & craft away! :) I was so afraid I wouldn't be able to "work" for her anymore, but it has worked out just fine!

This time she asked for comp books for her kids teachers....catch is, that this is a new school, new teachers so "we" don't know their personalities yet! SO we decided to do a "generic" school color type comp book! But it had to be pretty too! :) School colors are Maroon & Gold...

Something simple, yet pretty! I love how they turned out!

Also, she is starting a new teaching job this year (same school) so of course we had to make one for her too! But this one is special! I KNOW her style & personality!

LOVE the fiber/ribbon I used on hers!! It is SO cool! AND so her!! And of course BLING! :)

Tomorrow is my day for posting at Joy's Life, so be sure to come back by & see what I did this week!
Until next time... ♥ Laura ♥

Finally!! Stamp Club Samples! :)

Well now that my Stamp Club is meeting THIS weekend again, I guess it's fitting that I FINALLY get the samples of LAST month's club on here! :) :) Back-to-School is on full swing around here...school clothes, haircuts, new shoes, eye doc appt & new glasses for one, Prep Days for both this week but no new school supplies =/ Wait...WHAT??? NO NEW school supplies??? BOTH my kids said they didn't want/need new school supplies this year! No new back packs, no new notebooks, no new pens, no new folders! OMG!! Seriously??? This is the time of year I live for! All the new supplies, all pretty and shiny! All the new "in" colors! And of course, buying extras for crafting , Uh,I mean, when they need to replace the old stuff! They both said they wanted to use their old back packs etc...now I know I should be proud that they don't HAVE to have new stuff but...oh fine! I will just buy it all for me!! :)

Anyway, back to Stamp Club...here are the 3 projects we worked on last month....

First we did "Soot Stamping"...

There are tons of videos on this technique but HERE is the tutorial from SplitCoastStampers. This is SO cool!! Hubby thought I was burning the house down at first and between the smoke & sealer spray...lots of fumes BUT the end result is amazing!!

The second technique was "Reflection Technique"
I have seen this tutorial many times but for some reason it always seemed like alot of work (guess I was reading the wrong tutorial!) but holy smokes this is easy!! HERE is the tutorial.... Absolutely GORGEOUS!!

And our final project was this super cool tealight shade...

I am trying to find the original blog that I saw this on but if you Google "Vellum Tealight Shade" there are a few templates out there! This is so stunning when lit & makes the perfect gift! During our club meeting I let them loose and they added pearls, rhinestones etc and decorated them however they wanted! I really should have taken pics! Grrr!!

Well hopefully I won't take weeks to get our projects from this coming weekend up! LOL! Come on back tomorrow for some comp books I recently made for my most wonderful customer friend! :)

Until next time... ♥ Laura ♥

Samples for SAA

Hello! See I told you I had another post ready to go! Wow! 2 posts in 2 days?!?! Yay me!! LOL!! Ok, so I work at Stamp Antonio Arts (our local craft store) and I have to say, I have THE BEST job EVER!!! I get to meet tons of fellow crafters, have made some really great new friends, get to see and touch (LOL) all the new products AND I get to make samples for the store using those new products! :) Holy moly, is that not the BEST job??? I love it!! :) SO anyway, we ordered some cowboy hat embellishments...well we didn't realize that they would be so big! It said 3/4" so we thought, how cute!  A little hat for scrapbook pages etc...well we didn't realize it was 3/4" circumference!! So the hats are a little bigger than expected BUT they are SO cute! And as they say "Everything is bigger in Texas"!! But we knew some customers would wonder what to do with them...so I brought one home and made a quick sample!

SO here is the tag I made! Isn't that hat the cutest?? I used Deadbeat Designs stamps (if you know this company, you know how awesome the stamps are! If you don't, go check it out HERE! These are a MUST for anyone who lives in Texas, used to live in Texas or wishes they lived in Texas!! He also has a few other states he does, but mainly Texas!) I also used some Authentique 12x12 paper for the top & bottom! I distressed the back with Vintage Photo & Faded Jeans. And also stamped some barbed wire (also from Deadbeat) behind the main image!

I was also focusing on the Authentique paper so I made this card too...

 Close-up of the bluebonnets...

This is also a Deadbeat stamp and I used a Pearl Pen for the tips of the bluebonnets!

Funny story about Deadbeat...Not sure if everyone has heard of the term deadbeat used for someone who bails out on orders, can't keep a job, etc... Well my 1st week working at Stamp Antonio, there was a table in the back room with all the special orders, and on top of the receipts it had "Deadbeat" written on all of them, I thought "Wow! I guess all these people ordered and never picked up their stamps, but do they have to write "Deadbeat" on the top??" LOL!! I had never heard of Deadbeat Designs before and them learned it was the stamp company name on the top not literally "Deadbeat"!!  Anyway, now everytime I hear the name Deadbeat I have to giggle inside! :)

Until next time... ♥ Laura ♥

A Little Something Yummy

Hello! Welcome to my blog! Today I am posting for Joy's Life DT! This week we are making gift ideas! WOW! There are so many amazing projects over there, you MUST go see! But first, let's see what I decided to make this week! :)

I made a super cute, super simple acrylic box to put some sweet goodies in! Ok, well I didn't MAKE the box, but I did decorate it! :) I have had these boxes for literally YEARS but I know you can get them at Michaels too!

I used some striped paper (that you really can't see in the pic!) and put some cute ribbon around the top & bottom. Stamped my sentiment and used Nestabilities to cut it out. I bought these gorgeous roses at a craft store and thought they went well with the colors of the worms! Aren't they gorgeous?? And then added some "Cantaloupe" Liquid Pearls (Gorgeous again!!) to the scallops!

Here is a close-up of the stamp....

Hope you enjoyed this project! Remember, Joy has a new Fall set out now! OMG, it is SO stinking cute!! Go take a look HERE and be sure to go check out the rest of the DT HERE to see all the great projects! :)

I am finishing this post, and then I am writing my post for Saturday! I PROMISE!! :) :) I have some super cool samples I did for work that I just have to share! :) SO come back tomorrow and see!

Until next time... ♥ Laura ♥

For My Teacher

Good Morning! Wow I can't believe it's already August!! 3 more weeks until school starts...ick!! I am enjoying the summer so much but I know back-to-school time is also back-to-routine time! Double Ick!! LOL!! Actually I like the routine, just not the getting up early part of it! Anyway...

Today is my post for Joy's Life DT and speaking of back-to-school, that is what we are focusing on this week! :) I made a tag to put on a gift for that special first day of school! Now, both my boys are teenagers, so they don't WANT to give their teachers gifts, but I still love the "grade school" look, bright colors...crayons, pencils, etc...

I used A Childs Year to make my cuts (the child & the crayons) then stamped the words on the crayons...I then inked the edges with VersaMark and used copper embossing powder on the edges!! Love how the edges turned out! Added some colorful ribbon and I was done!

Thanks for stopping by and come back in a couple of days to see some projects form my Stamp Club last week!

Until next time... ♥ Laura ♥
