Merry Christmas!!

Hello!! Is everyone out there ready for Christmas?? I'm not and it is coming WAY too fast!! But today is my day to post for Joy's Life DT and this week we are focusing on GLITTER!! YAY!! I love glitter!! In fact, my Mom just bought me an ornament that says "Glitter Princess"!! It was MADE for me! LOL!

When I saw our challenge for this week I knew exactly what I wanted to do!

We got this new glitter corrugated cardstock in at work & it is GORGEOUS!!! I used that with my Sizzix Snowman #2 die....I used Faded Jeans Distress Ink on the back ground & on top of that Blue Smoke Perfect Pearls Mist. The "snow" is suede paper with Stickles dabbed on it...

Here is a close-up of the gorgeous stamp from Joy...

Thanks for stopping by & in case I don't get back on here, Have a Merry Christmas & a Joyous Holiday Season! :)

Until next time... ♥ Laura ♥

Thank you SNOW much

Ok so today is not my "normal" day to post for Joy's Life DT but when I went to write my post on Monday night...my blog was GONE!!! WTH?? I was freaking out! SO I put a call into my Comp Tech guy AKA my brother :) and he said he was "moving the domain..." but all I heard was blah, blah blah...kind of like Charlie Brown's teachers!! Needless to say he fixed it and I am back up & running! Yay!! :)

So, this week we are showing our favorite tips and/or techniques. I am showing you a "new to me" technique that I learned at work a few weeks ago! And here we go!!

(I seriously meant to take WAY more pics, but I started and kept forgetting about taking pics! Not used to doing that!!) You will need: Acetate, Glossy Accents, Re-inkers, Dry Glitter and Tissue Paper

Squeeze out about a quarter size circle of Glossy Accents and add a few drops of re-inkers....You can see the colors I used here

Next, I used my most versatile & handy tool in my craft room...my finger!! Get in there and get messy!! Rub it all around making sure the edges are covered also.

Then sprinkle some glitter over all the "goo"! I used silver here but clear also looks good too!

Next, crinkle up a sheet of cut to size tissue paper, then straighten it out and place it over all your "goo"

With your fingers again, tap all around the tissue paper until it's all pressed down.

Let dry (this could take a while depending on how much Glossy Accents you used)...then trim access tissue paper off the edges.

Adhere to a white piece of cardstock (I used 4 1/4" x 5 1/2") adding the white behind really makes your colors pop but experiment with other colors too! Now finish your card...

I used "Thank you SNOW much" from Joy's set Wintery Puns...and some light blue pleated ribbon! So simple but so stunning! :)

Hope you have fun trying this technique...there are so many color possibilities!

Until next time... ♥ Laura ♥

Tree-Mendous Wishes...

Hello! Hope everyone out there is having a great day! Today is my day to post for Joy's Life DT and this week we are showing some projects with a "food" theme! Some of the DT is making projects using food, or with just a food theme...I decided to do a candy "jar" for gift giving!

I took a plastic container that originally had pecans in it and I kept the container because it was a unique shape! My brother makes fun of me every time I see a container that I just "Have To Have"!! :) BUT, I always have a good stock when I need to make a quick gift!

Ok 1st off I have a tip...Whenever I cut an image on my Cricut and it's too big/small or I just change my mind...I still put it together and then I have a 3 drawer unit on my table that I categorize them so that I can use them later...now that alone is a good tip but here is the REAL tip!! IF you do that and plan on using them for a blog post or challenge and will need the name/size of the cut...write it on the back of the image!! I just spent an hour trying to figure out where the heck this tree image came from!! And I still don't know exactly! LOL!! I cut it from the Best of 2010 cart but not sure where the original image can be found! Grr!!

Anyway, I added some sparkle with Stickles and rhinestones and used "Tree-mendous Wishes for a Sparkling Holiday Season" stamp from Joy's new Christmas set Oh Christmas Puns! I added some frilly ribbon around the lid and a scallop piece on the top of the lid from the same paper I made my "belly band" with  (You can't see the "belly band" but it goes around just 3 sides of the container so the back is clear)

Here is a close-up of the fabulous stamp....

Thanks for stopping by and in case you missed the hop this past weekend, there is still time to get in on some of the blog candy offered! Just go to my previous post and you can hop through! :)
Until next time...

Joy's Life DT Happy Holidays Blog Hop

Welcome to The Joy's Life DT Happy Holidays Blog Hop!! Can you believe it's December already?? Christmas is right around the corner! I just love the holidays!! Of course here in Tx, it is about 80 degrees now, so it's not too festive, but today we are putting up our tree and that always gets me in the Holiday Spirit!

Now on to the hop! You should have come from Amy's blog, if not you might want to start at the beginning over at Joy's Blog

For my blog hop project I made an ornament!

I saw one similar to this on Pinterest so I gave it my own little twist and came up with this! I started with a glass ball ornament and some scrapbook paper that I just love from Hobby Lobby. I tore the paper into small squares, inked the edges and Mod Podged them onto the ornament. While the Mod Podge was still tacky I sprinkled some chunky glitter all over and then let it dry. I had some picks with tiny pinecones and berries so I hot glued them around the top of the ornament. I stamped my sentiment "Peace Hope Joy" from Joy's set Wintery Puns in Fired Brick Distressed Ink and cut it into a "banner" shape. Inked the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and added some "Gold Ice" Ice Stickles (My new favorite Stickles!!!) I put on both sides of the ornament so that no matter which way it turns you can see it!

Here is a close-up of the fabulous sentiment....

I hope you enjoyed being here today and hope you come back soon! :) Oops! I almost forgot!! How about a little blog candy?!?! Just be a follower & leave a comment to receive a goody grab bag of Holiday embellishments!
